At the end of February, we were pleased to welcome back the Reception children from Bishops Lydeard Church School. In the same week we were also delighted to meet some of the children from the nursery, located at the school.
The theme for both visits was dressing up and we talked about what we do and wear to make us feel beautiful. The children then decorated and coloured in various items of clothing that we were able to hang on our very own washing line in the library. The children also had the opportunity to look at new books, play with reusable stickers and have fun with toys and puzzles. At the end we shared a story.
We hope the visits will become a regular event in the community library calendar.
International Children’s Book Day 2 April
On 2 April it is International Children’s Book Day. In order to celebrate the day, and hopefully encourage more children to read, we are putting on a special treasure hunt around the library. There will be ten pictures of famous characters from children’s books to find throughout April and a sticker prize at the end!
In addition to the treasure hunt we also have an Easter Bunny that has made her home in Bishops Lydeard Library. When you visit during April keep your eyes peeled and see if you can spot her hiding in amongst the books. There may be a small chocolate treat for you if you are able to find her!
Our Easter Bunny doesn’t have a name at the moment so we are holding a competition for the best name and the winner will receive a prize. Entry forms can be collected from the library from the beginning of April and the draw will be made on Saturday 25 April.
Also, don’t forget to come along on Saturday 11 April for our Mini Easter Egg Hunt – find out where the Easter Bunny may have left some eggs for little and big users of the library.
Our regular Story Time and Lego Club sessions will be running throughout the Easter holidays so please come along. Details are listed below:
Storytime – this is held every Monday at 11:00 until 11:30. It is free and you do not need to sign up, just come along.
Lego Club – this is held every Saturday at 10:00 until we close at 13:00. In addition to the various sets of Lego available, there will also be Duplo laid out for younger children. Again, this is a free, drop in club so families are welcome to come and stay for as long as you like.
If you have any suggestions or comments, please feel free to pop in and speak to me or one of our volunteers. Alternatively, you can email the library on BLDLIB@somerset.gov.uk.
Thank you for your support.
