September club outing: Dorchester & Weymouth

Our final summer coach trip, in September, was to Dorchester and Weymouth. In Dorchester we were dropped off by the market, although I hear some went into Dorchester town. Most of us bought something in the market (even when we were quite sure that we wouldn't!). A wonderful place to wander and browse. Then it was on to Weymouth for lunch and a wander along the promenade, the harbour, or the shops. The traditional amongst us had fish and chips and, whilst there may have been some cake, there was definitely ice cream consumed! The weather was kind and it stayed dry until we were back on the coach and on our way home.

A big Thank You to Mary for organising our six days out this summer. We all appreciate the work that they entail. They were lovely trips! Remember, these trips can only continue if they are supported by members (and non-members are also very welcome when space permits, which it usually does!). Let us know where you'd like to go next year - especially if you didn't fancy any of the trips this year, then tell us where you would like to go. All ideas are considered (from anyone!) - we will, as usual, vote on them at the AGM in January.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday 15th November at the Bishops Lydeard Village Hall when our speaker will be Susie Simmons on ‘The Museum of Somerset and its Treasures'. Our monthly 'First Wednesday' in the month social lunches in the Lethbridge Arms are continuing.  Contact me for details.
