Bishops Lydeard Friendly Club

Our April event was the first of our Summer Coach Trips. A 'Mystery Trip'. We set out in lovely warm sunshine - down the M5. Hmmm, that opens-up a wealth of possibilities? We knew better than to ask - despite persuasion, cajoling, or even bribery, Mary just will not say! We turned off at Honiton and set off through the glorious countryside. I know I keep saying this, but you see so much more from a coach than from a car (besides being able to leave the driving to David and just admire the views). Ottery St. Mary was our guess - we were quite convinced of that! Until we turned off into the Donkey Sanctuary! Time there for a coffee (and the inevitable cake) and a stroll around the delightful grounds to say 'hello' to the donkeys.

Then we were off again. Final destination - Sidmouth! The seaside on a sunny day. Absolutely perfect!! It is an excellent place for a visit combining all the elements any of us could want - shops, gardens, views, easy promenades, cafes, beach (yes, there were people swimming, but none of our group, I think!) and those lovely red cliffs. Thank you, Mary. Inspired choices for our mystery trip.

Our monthly 'First Wednesday' in the month social lunches in the Lethbridge Arms are continuing. Contact me for details: 01823 433266
