Taunton Deane is not immune from this and has written to the Church to say that they can no longer afford to maintain the floodlighting system. At the current time the power used by the floodlights comes from an un-metered supply from the energy company. Taunton Deane maintains the system and replaces the bulbs when they die. An auction of pledges will be held in Lydeard St Lawrence Village Hall on Saturday, February 11th, to raise money towards the cost of celebrations. But help is needed to ensure the auction is a success and an appeal has been launched for people to come forward with pledges. To most people’s surprise he explained that all Magistrates are volunteers, receiving only a small reimbursement for travelling expenses.
